Dermal fillers treatments are used to soften and contour lines, folds, and wrinkles. Unwanted folds and wrinkles can be "plumped up" to reduce their appearance, resulting in a smoother, more youthful looking skin.
Why Fillers

Dermal fillers work as replenishment for the natural collagen which has been rendered less effective by the ageing process and in response adds volume, increases hydration and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Risk

It is common to have some redness and swelling following the treatment, although this usually resolves after a few hours and the results can be seen instantly.

Is It Right For Me ?

Dermal fillers are an ideal treatment for anyone who has concerns about their lines or furrows from the nose to mouth area, 'crows feet', lines around the eyes, or lines around the mouth. Many patients also choose to have this treatment to plump up thin lips, restoring a nice youthful look.

Results long For ?

The effects of Dermal fillers treatments usually last for 6-12 months. Most clients have top-ups when they feel the effect is starting to diminish i.e. any time between 6 and 12 months. With repeated treatments the effects often last longer.

ALL ABOUT DERMAL FILLERS

What are Dermal Fillers?

Fillers are most popular treatments used for softening wrinkles, laughter lines, facial lines and wrinkles caused naturally by ageing or sun exposure. Combined with a local anaesthetic, dermal fillers are injected into the skin to give your face a natural volume, leaving your skin completely hydrated and youthful.

Popular areas to add volume and fullness will fillers include the lips, cheeks and bridge of the nose. For smoothing and plumping lines and wrinkles, popular treatment areas include around the forehead, eyes, mouth, chin, neck, décolletage and hands.

How do Fillers work?
By introducing a Filler under the skin, volume which has been lost through ageing will
re-appear creating a smoother, youthful appearance. The dermal will attract water to it, further bringing hydration to the area leading to fresh and revitalized skin.

What are the typical areas that can be treated by Fillers?

The typical areas treated are:
Naso-labial folds - lines from the end of the nose to the end of the lips. They can also be lifted by plumping the cheeks.

Anyone with a previous allergic reaction to a Dermal Filler or someone with a allergy to Lidocain (often added to fillers for the comfort of client).  Pregnant or breast feeding mothers are also contraindicated to treatment.

What's involved in the Filler treatment?
You will need a full consultation and if you are suitable for treatment we can proceed.  You will be treated in a clinically safe and hygienic environment.  You will be asked to sit/lie on a couch and made comfortable.  Your skin will be prepared with cleansing and a numbing cream will be applied, when the area is ready the Dermal Filler will be administered.  You will be given after-care advice and details of what to expect following treatment.  Then you can return to your normal activities.

What should I do after Filler Treatment?
Following your filler treatment you can expect some local swelling and maybe bruising, a cold compress will help to ease this, and arnica cream may be recommended to encourage the bruise to come out.  It is often asked that you avoid any vigorous exercise or sun exposure for 24-48hrs.

When will I see results?
You will see results instantly; however there may be slight swelling for a couple of days.

How long will the effects last?
Dermal Fillers are long-lasting but not permanent, they usually last between 6months to 2 years depending on the type of filler used. But this can vary for different individuals.

Will I look Unnatural after Filler Treatment?
Our ethos is ‘less is more’ we will only inject what’s needed to achieve a natural look.  We don’t want to make you look different, just healthier.

Will it hurt?
Dermal Fillers can be slightly uncomfortable depending on the depth on injection needed.  However during the preparation of your skin an anesthetic cream will be applied to the area to aid your comfort, plus most of the Dermal Fillers we use have local anesthetic mixed in with them too to further minimize any discomfort.

How long will it take?
After your consultation the treatment can take up to 40 minutes, this includes time for the numbing cream to activate.

What are the side effects of Fillers?
Short term side effects can include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site, these can be relieved with a cold compress, paracetamol and arnica cream if you have no allergies.  Lips can be particularly sensitive and swelling may last for a few days.  There is no evidence to date of any long-term safety concerns associated with the treatment, as the body naturally metabolises the product over time.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?
Dermal Filler’s are inert, non allergic and risk free. Standard and time tested brands are only used at Pragna to ensure High safety profile.

What are the Risks of Fillers?
If you have a history of cold sores, the likely-hood of an outbreak is high. An anti-herpes treatment will be advised to hopefully stop this happening.
Allergic reactions may occur, but this is extremely rare.

There is also a risk of infection, this is why it is vital to be treated in a clinically safe environment where stringent sterile precautions can be taken and its absolutely necessary to follow the after-care instructions which will be given to you.

There may be slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising, pain and tenderness immediately after treatment. The reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days.

How Is a Treatment With Dermal Fillers Different From a Treatment With Botox?

Dermal fillers are used as an injectable gel to provide additional volume to the skin. Dermal fillers reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and the dermal fillers gel provides volume to areas that may have lost volume, such as sunken cheeks. BOTOX differs from dermal fillers in that it is injected to reduce muscle movement, which in turn is a means of preventing wrinkles from forming. Where dermal fillers would add volume to firm the face, BOTOX treatments reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the skin.
